Testing and Reading with Results

Preschoolers are little sponges soaking up all we teach them. So we practice, practice, practice!! We test 3 times a year and see an average growth rate of 35% to 40%. At the end of the year, we award prizes to children who score 100% on the tests, get an A, or are the most improved. We are focusing on progress throughout the year.  All scores below are based on actual results. 

• Child 1:  Aug test score 16%        May Test score 80%    (64% growth rate!)
• Child 2:  Aug test score 13%        May Test score 80%   (68% growth rate!)
• Child 3:  Aug test score 18%        May Test score 92%    (74% growth rate!)
• Child 4:  Aug test score 12%        May Test score 94%    (82% growth rate!)

• In Aug, 9% of our class tested above 80% on our first test.
• By May, 75% of our class tested ABOVE 90%, 18/25 kids earned an A! 

             That means they missed less than 9 out of 96 questions!

During the 1st Semester, we focus on learning the alphabet, letter formation, and letter sounds in preparation for our reading program. We begin our reading program second semester (Jan-May) and cater it to each child individually.

We are very proud of all our readers and strive to keep reading a positive experience. Every child who reads at least one book will be praised and rewarded. Children who read 5 books are given an additional prize! We hold a reading competition each year and the top readers get trophies and prizes from businesses throughout the community. We value reading and teach children to sound blend CVC words through fun, educational games and programs.
